"you would have loved Narnia in summer. We Fauns would dance with the dryads all night...."

This is a great drawing! Normally I would picture dryads as being more human looking, but with clothes that had leafy and tree-like motifs and leaves and branches growing out along with their hair, but this desing matches very well to how the dryads dance sleepily around Aslan on one night that Lucy saw. :D

Thank you! I love to draw Dryads this way, ever since I was a little girl.

I think it suits the dryads much better than the CGI flower petal design they used for the films. Although I like how WETA designed certain things like the centaurs, the minotaurs, the merpeople, the ogres, the armour, etc. I'm rather disappointed with the way the protrayed and depicted the dryads and naiads in the films......-_-

It was very creative how they did it, but I'm with you, I'd have liked a more solid less ghosty portrayal of the dryads in the films

I agree, it was a creative style, but I think it would have worked better if the ghostly flower petal/leaf form was just a transitioning phase between tree and solid nymph. As a matter of fact, there was an earlier, discarded dryad design that had human actresses in costume. Here's some links to websites that have pictures of these dryads from behind the scenes. One of the trailers for the movie even has a brief clip of two solid dryads in the background!

I know! But at least it's not as bad as making the naiads in VDT be basically mermaid versions of the T-1000 guy from Terminator and be replacements for the Sea People......That was serious failure on the film makers part! >_<
